Natural ways to help PCOS patients get and stay pregnant.

You should consult with your doctor or practitioner to determine a diagnosis for PCOS. Lifestyle modifications are the best ways to help the syndrome. Medical treatment should be based on your symptoms and goals. Lack of ovulation is usually found with women suffering from PCOS. Studies have shown that 70% of women diagnosed with PCOS have fertility issues. PCOS patients also have a higher risk when it comes to miscarriages.

Symptoms of PCOS

Irregular or absent periods, anovulation  | Pelvic pain  |  Cysts on the ovaries | Infertility  |  Depression | Acne  |Weight gain |
Facial hair growth (hirsutism) | Sleep apnea

Causes of PCOS
Insulin Resistance: while there are many factors which can pre-dispose a woman to develop PCOS such as obesity, genetics, and exposure to synthetic estrogen (Pollution, exposure to certain plastic, synthetic hormones found in some foods), insulin resistance is the root cause of polycystic ovarian syndrome, which is easily controlled through diet.

Natural ways to help PCOS:
  • Eat protein at every meals.
  • Learn about nutrition labels: avoiding coffee, sugars, processed foods, and Gluten. Limit dairies.
  • Exercise (but don't overdo it either).
  • Acupuncture can relieve Anxiety, Depression and Stress often associated with PCOS
  • Meditation: it can be anything that is quiet and relaxing. A walk in the trails, a run, cooking, reading...
  • Do not smoke or use drugs.
  • Maintain a healthy weight. General medical studies indicate that lowering weight can lower disease risk factors.
  • Vitamins and Minerals that may help: Chromium, Zinc, Coenzyme Q10 and Magnesium, Cod liver oil.
  • Acupuncture can help in regulating hormones and in ovulation. Also very successful in preventing miscarriage.
